Mount Olive has been developing followers of Jesus since 1933. We are currently being led by Rev. Suellen Myers, having issued a pastoral call to her in 2003. Pastor Suellen re-introduced the children’s message during the worship service, so our young families with small children have been re-connected to Jesus. Pastor Suellen has succeeded in making the worship service interesting and relevant. So come, see for yourself. Come as you are.
As an ELCA Lutheran Church, our mission statement is “Powered by Jesus to Share God’s Love, We: Welcome All People, Worship God, Pray Together, and Serve the Community.”
Our Guiding Principles are that in response to God’s love for us, we let Jesus’ light shine through us by welcoming all people, making a joyful noise in worship, touching each other’s lives through prayer, and in service to the community.
After much discussion, congregational surveys and listening posts over the past 3 years, the decision was finally reached to offer a 3rd service on Sunday mornings, beginning 9/19. This service will be a contemporary worship service at 9:30 lead by the praise team and pastor(s). So the setting will be less formal than the ‘traditional’ service, but retaining the confession of our sins, scripture readings, pastor’s message and music. We welcome all people to ‘come as you are’.
