SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL
Sunday Church School is offered for zero to not quite three-year olds through adults during the education hour of 9:15-10:15 a.m. Rally Day 2010 is September 12th, and our theme for the year is “Love God, Love Your Neighbor.” For the Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade, we use an Augsburg Fortress curriculum.
We meet together as Pre-K through 8th graders in the church for opening singing before heading off to our classrooms. On certain Sundays, we participate in All Come Together (ACT) Sundays, where parents and others in the congregation are invited to join in the fun and learning for the day. The Sunday School students also participate in a Sunday School Christmas program held on Sunday, December 19th, and sing during worship periodically throughout the year. Education for adults is discussed in other parts of the brochure.
A parent-child faith education time is offered during the Sunday School hour. Parents and child(ren) ages zero to not-quite-three are invited join us in the Nursery/classroom on the lower level following Sunday School openings. We will have about 20 minutes of Bible story time, along with songs, some finger plays, prayers, and an occasional craft activity. The rest of the time will allow the children to play and the parents to chat.
SUNDAY ALL-AGE (All Come Together) Events – These events are scheduled throughout the Sunday School year. These include:
Rally Day (Sept. 12th), Advent (Nov. 28th), “Souper Bowl of Caring” (Feb. 6th), Fat Sunday Breakfast (Mar. 6th), Lent (Mar. 13th), and the Last Day of Sunday School (May 22nd).
All in the congregation are invited to join the Sunday School children on these special days, especially parents.
