The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America was formed by merging,

• The Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches, and
• The American Lutheran Church and
• The Lutheran Church in America.

Beginning in 1988, these 3 churches, with shared beliefs and missions, officially formed the ELCA. Two decades later, the ELCA is composed of 4.8 million members and nearly 10,500 congregations across the U.S. Today, the ELCA reflects the rich and diverse heritage of the people it serves.

Mount Olive is one of 137 churches within the Greater Milwaukee Synod of S.E. Wisconsin that consists fo 91,000 baptized members.
